Still Planning to Pack

Our Tokyo trip is in 5 days time and guess what, we have yet to pack. Gilbert and I had some grand plans a couple of months ago regarding the packing of our luggages for the trip. As history have shown, Bert and I always end up packing the last minute. Therefore, with the new addition to the family going with us on this trip, we told each other we will start packing in the first week of October. "Now we are bringing Robbie, we cannot afford to leave everything to the last minute. There are many important things to bring which we CANNOT forget" are our exact words. Well well, at least we tried. We've taken out our luggages. Its just not filled with anything .... YET .... Actually, I should have known we will end up packing at the last minute. Cos even when I was off to UK for a year for my studies, I was still packing on the day I was to depart. Bert has got the same problem. We ARE excited about the trip. It is just the packing that puts us off.

Currently, we are still "PLANNING" to pack. Terrible ... I know ... Since I am working on Monday and we have to reach the airport by 3am on Tuesday, I am sure I will start to panic on Sunday and then the packing will REALLY start. Anyway, I hope this trip will be fantastically fantastic. Probably, it will be exhausting since we will be hauling Robbie everywhere. Robbie and the breastpumps. Stopping every 4 hours to pump. Its almost hilarious. I am like a machine. Constantly manufacturing, expressing, bottling, storing. Well, I wonder if I can sell it ... or not .. just a thought. OK, that's it for now. Tokyo ... Here we come!!!

Yaa...um!!! Seng!!

Last sat was an eventful day. It was a day of drink and be merry. it started of with lunch at orange lantern, washed down with beer. Then it was sausage at brotzeit, washed down with beer. It was rather hot at amici but the dinner was scrumdililumcious, washed down with white wine. Finally we washed it all down with hoegaarden at tangos in holland village.

It must have been the alcohol, coupled with fatigue that got me, bcos when I got home, I became a little cranky... ok very cranky.... It could have been a perfect day, my fault, Robbie and Mummy, very sorry. I'm very fortunate to have a wife that's very understanding, and a son that still don't understand. Daddy's a naughty boy! beat! beat!

So .... that was Robbie baby's first visit to the pub. It's better to start him young rather than restrict him! Seriously ... I want to be the one to introduce him his first drink, instead of some drink buddy, who'll probably drink till half blind, puke, sleep in the carpark, wake up the next day with a hangover and still have to take the public transport back home ... It's pathetic!!! Daddy know ... I will teach you the good way to a drink, when the time comes ... Cheers!!

Kisses

Everybody loves to kiss Robbie. "Nai Nai" when carrying Robbie will have cheek to cheek sessions with him. "Ye Ye" without fail, will always give Robbie loud smacks on his cheeks, whenever Robbie is in his arms. Grandpa too will sniff and sayang Robbie when we go round to his place to meet him. Robbie gets the most kisses when we visit "Yee Poh" Vivien. She will give him the "gerum" kiss with affection. Auntie Stella too is another culprit capable of multiple smooches.

But I have to admit the two most shameless kissing bandits are Mommy & Daddy. Whenever we get our hands on Robbie, we will kiss him in every possible way. Daddy loves to pin Robbie down and give him a kissing bout just before we put him to bed. Robbie loves it when Daddy does his kissing routine with him. Robbie will coo and stop kicking when the kissing starts ... Our Baby's cheeks are so delicious, it's impossible to resist. I wonder when Robbie will start to realise his parents are such a nauseating pair ... ha ha ha. "Look at him ... How not to kiss ... sigh!" Come let Daddy Kiss Kiss!!

Milk & Wine

A summary of all that had happened as well as what might happen over the next few days.

• I was on MC for 2 days this week. I had fever and flu for 2 weeks already and therefore, the doctor gave me strong medication and I was told not to breastfeed. In order to maintain the milk supply, I had to continue expressing milk but the milk had to be thrown away. Such a waste to me. The paranoid me had been worrying over whether the milk is sufficient for Robbie and here, the doctor is telling me to throw the milk away. Oh well ... wanted Gilbert to drink it but I guess he wouldn't .....


• It is the start of a long weekend. Its Friday today and the coming Monday is Deepavali. Therefore, it will be a public holiday.


• Good thing about throwing the milk away is that I can finally drink some wine. Ok, the plan is to drink a little more than some. Anyway, I have to trash the milk till Sunday. Can only resume breastfeeding on Monday. SOOOOOooooo, tomorrow is THE day !!!


• Sunday evening, we are planning to go Geylang for some frog porridge. So its Robbie's first time in a Red Light District .... OOOooo, we sure are starting him young .......

Crying!

Today Robbie went to get his 2nd jab for pneumococcal and also drank his 2nd dose of rotavirus vaccine from Dr Yip Yeng Yoong of Singapore Baby and Child Clinic at gleneagles . Each doctor visit for these two vaccines plus other misc fees cost $400plus. It's expensive but we don't mind paying a bit more for Robbie's well being. Later in the day after the doctor's visit, Robbie became very aggitated and fussed a lot. At one point, he was crying and nothing we did could sooth him... we gave him gripe water, put "ruyi yu", fed him milk... plenty of milk, but he still seems to be in pain. In the end, we decided to give him some fever medicine the doctor prescribed the previous visit.... plus some more milk. I think that did the trick! he started to calm down and finally went to sleep. It's not the first time he's so fussy and grumpy, but it's one of his worser episodes... and it's quite heart-wrenching to hear his crying pains. At times I feel lost and helpless when we've tried everything and nothing seems to work. I'm always very grateful to have my wife around during these bouts.... she seems to be able to calm him with her maternal coos and coaxing. Taking care of Robbie would have been very difficult if not for the help of ppl like my mother-in-law, Robbie's "si yi poh", my wife and many others. So far it has been a wonderful journey.... Robbie has given me the impetus to be a better person... a better father. It's really worth the sleepless nights and fatigue, when he looks at you and give you the most purest of smiles... sigh... it's therapeutic... believe me.

Counting Down To Tokyo

3 weeks more and we are flying to Tokyo. I feel rather excited as it is our first holiday with Robbie. Of course there are worries too. Bringing a 4 month old abroad may not be such a good idea .... as what most people would think. Nevertheless, tickets are bought, paid and all done. It is good to start exposing Robbie from young .... I hope. Hopefully, he would not start screaming once we are on the plane. We will wait and see. We pray for a safe journey and a "fantabulous"time.

Fever

Its Saturday today. I'm at work but cannot help thinking of Robbie. He seems to have a slight fever and this worries me. He is at my auntie's house so he's getting good care. He seems a little more tired than usual. But of course, still rather active, looking around and making noises. I'm finishing work at 12 and I can't wait to go pick him up. Hope he feels better. I am just a typical first time mum I think. Worrying about every little thing.

I Say No

Robbie turned 4 month yesterday. I now truly understand the meaning of "Time Flies". Seems like yesterday when Robbie was still in my tummy .... In this video, I attempted to scold Robbie for putting his hands in his mouth. When I tried to be fierce and said "I say No!", Robbie laughed at me. Daddy was really amused as well and captured it on video.

Poo Poo

Just as the title says .... this post is about poo poo. My Robbie darling poo on me today ... I cannot believe the amount of poo this little man has ... We were in the car and Robbie Baby was agitated and waving his hands around. He just would not stop showing his displeasure UNTIL ...... the bomb ... I could feel it against my thigh ... the explosion, the force and I just knew the poo poo was going to spill out from his diapers ... true enough, there it was ... poo poo on my pants. Robbie's daddy was laughing and even my own daddy was laughing as they knew that I am afraid of POO!!

So Robbie Baby, because you poo poo on me, I will be showing your girlfriends naked photographs of you!!

skin problem

6th oct 2008, I think Robbie's skin is getting better. The red blotches r all cleared.... his skin is so smooth now. I like to especially touch the skin on his chest.... and hands... and face.... and.... aiya everywhere la... my baby so cute!!!

2nd oct 2008, our baby Robbie developed a skin condition. we brought him to see a doctor, and the doc said he has sensitive skin.... eczema. Robbie has 3 types of cream to apply on his face limbs and groin. everyone is so worried for him. "nai nai"so heart pain, can see she almost in tears. We pray for Robbie's good health, and wish he will recover soon.
