Lims In Shanghai

Well ...... its been a really long time since this blog has been updated ... loads of things happened .... Robbie has grown up real fast. He has learnt SO many things ... Most amazing thing is that he has learnt to screech like a bird. Yes .... this screeching is seriously irritating me and also damaging my hearing. Why isn't anyone inventing a muzzle for toddlers?! Bert and I would be the first in line to buy it. Do not shake your head at me ... I am sure thousands of parents have the same feeling .... Just that they rather not voice it. I am just honest anyway. Another amazing thing that Robbie the brat has learnt is beat his fist on the floor, screaming & pretending to cry when he doesn't get his way. Worst still, he will lie on the ground rolling and thrashing. So ... knowing this .... DON'T ASK ME WHEN I WILL BE HAVING MY SECOND KID!!!
One brat is enough ... thank you very much .........

As the title goes, we were in Shanghai for a couple of days & the brat made his mark in Shanghai by screeching his way through the streets, waving, smiling & having his pictures taken by tourists and don't know who. BEWARE PEOPLE ... behind the smile a blue blood brat liessssssssssss ...... we were really fortunate in that the brat slept most of the time on the plane. In the apartment that we rented, the brat was too busy making his telephone calls & holding his "conversations" that I managed to get some breathing space. I know, we shouldn't let him play with the phone but come on, I don't have the type of patience & "teaching" attitude that comes naturally to mothers. But I did unplug the phone .......... So I trieddddddd ...... on the day we checked out, the phone was still working so I think we did just fine.

Some memories from Shanghai ...........

I love you bertie bert and bratty Robbie

Birthday Photos - Conrad Oscar 9 June 2009

Birthday Photos - School 9 June 2009

Birthday Photos - Botanic Gardens 30 May 2009

Robbie's 1st Bday

Invitation Card
Swimming @ Hotel Intercontinental
Robbie's 1 year old party was held at Botanic Gardens on 30th May 2009. We celebrated again in his school on 9 June 2009 and a dinner with Seyu employees at Conrad's Oscar restaurant. Robbie really burnt a big hole in my pocket. The above invite was designed and printed by my brother who also dotes on Robbie. Thank goodness for photoshop cos if I have a 2nd child, I will just doctor the photos and invites and tell my 2nd kid, "See! You had the exact same party." Hehehe, then I can save a lot of money ..... hmmmm the poor 2nd kid hahaha ..... Anyway, s/he would not be able to remember .....

Since the last post, we have brought Robbie, rollerblading, a weekend at Intercontinental Hotel as well as an outing to Sentosa Beach. Bert and I want him to love the outdoors and perhaps, we had overdone it. Cos my Robbie gets bored easily when indoors and would run out the front door whenever he gets an opportunity. Furthermore, he scrambles around very quickly and this has resulted in bruises, cuts etc. But Robbie does not seem to be bothered by these as he is still scrambling everywhere. When we are home, we pass Robbie's care to one another cos it is just too tiring to run after him. Robbie is very naughty and I was trying to recall yesterday, just when did Robbie became so naughty .... I am the strictest in the family and yet Robbie is not bothered. Once we tell him not to touch certain things or say no, he will deliberately do whatever we had just forbid him to. Then he will look at us ... hmmmm ... I fear the future ..... hahaha Robbie's latest act is to climb up and down the stairs ... with or without ANYONE ... so my whole family is getting a weak heart from watching him or trying to get to him in time.

Robbie has a fascination with drawers, cupboards etc etc anything that can be opened and closed. He will go around opening and closing drawers etc and just a few days ago, he slammed shut a cupboard and hurt his thumb quite badly. So Robbie will learn his lesson and stop doing that ... or so we thought ... less than an hour later, he is back to his old tricks. Not bothered at all about his thumb. So the lesson is more for us as we are slowly discovering our dear Robbie's character ... He is not going to be an easy child to teach as I can see his stubborn nature surfacing and most especially, the "thick" skin. One baby step at a time I guess ..... for US!

Love ya Robbie Boy and Bertie Bert!! I am looking forward to another hotel stay hehehe ....

Walking walking

Robbie having his bath time in Genting
Robbie baby is walking. Just when I found out that crawling for a longer time aids mental development, Robbie decides he's ready to walk. Well .... it sure is exciting BUT Robbie walking gives me heart attack. Firstly, he dashes around and falls all over. Robbie's impatient nature is to blame. This is also why he prefers to crawl as it is faster. But, recently, he realised that walking fast / running is also possible. So he will zoom here and there with his head leading first. More like diving around then walking. Another thing, Robbie never stops! He's like the energizer bunny. More like the energizer tarzan to think about it. He will give a war cry before his 'divings'. Anyway, good thing is, my legs are more toned hehehe.
Since our last post, together with Robbie and Bert, we have gone to Genting AGAIN. Got to continue the training if Robbie is going to be a professional gambler. May and June are busy months. Cos we are preparing for Robbie's Baby 1st Birthday!!! Its a superhero theme. We are having the party on 30 May 2009, Sat, at Botanical Gardens. Its an early celebration as we could not get a venue for June. Anyway, on his actual birthday on 9 June, we will be going to his school to celebrate his birthday with his school mates as well as a small dinner party with the employees of Seyu. Gonna burn a big big hole in my pocket but well, only son and all. Hope the party will be a success!!!
I love you my cheeky Robbie Baby and not forgetting my Bertie Bert.

ViRUs in the house ....

With our friend, Awsan from Yeman

Robbie baby has got the cold ... poor boy sniffling away and crying in the middle of the night when he could not breath as his nose was filled to the brim with dried YELLOW snot ... pitiful ... And just when this small baby is getting better, my big baby called me telling me about how sick he feels ... yes, this big baby is none other than my bertie bert. Says he contracted the cold from baby Robbie yada yada. He has to rest yada yada .... Bert will probably recover immediately once I threaten to beat his son ...

You HAVE to see Bert with Robbie to believe the kind of "SPOILING" bert puts Robbie through. And my darling Robbie understands perfectly. Robbie is like a different baby when Bert is around. Doing his fake cries, pouting etc when he does not get his way. Robbie will do this pitiful soft "Ooo OOOo" and look at his daddy whenever he does not get what he wants from me. And my bert will go "ok la ok la". All the world tells me how well behave and smart Robbie is UNTIL they see Robbie with Bert. And THEN, they will look at me shockingly and say,"Robbie is not like that at school / not like that at my house" etc etc .... Hmmm, now I fear Robbie will become TOO manipulative ... Well, Robbie darling, Mummy has plans!!! Mummy has been eyeing that wonderful cane with a red handle at the nearby shop!!!! BEWARE!

For update, Robbie can take about 2 steps without help. He climbs and crawls around. Hates to be confined. Shouts for attention. stands and cruises around while holding on to something. Climbs down my bed repeatedly. opens the car drawer repeatedly. hates to sit down. have to be FORCED to sleep. in other words ... a barbarian ... sorry a bratty barbarian

Anyway, hope robbie baby gets well soon and not forgetting the giant baby ... GET WELL NOW!

Love you both

Mahjong Training

bussy bussy ... due to mahjong training, there just wasn't time to update this blog ... sad for Robbie huh ... gambler parents .. but not to worry. We have already started training Robbie in Mahjong and he has certainly demonstrated certain flair for it. He shouts and demands to be put on the mahjong table. If carried away from the table, Robbie wrestles and demands to be put back on the table. When I take him out of the house as he is kicking up a fuss, you can hear his heart wrenching wails. Sometimes, if Robbie tries real hard, there might even be 1 or 2 tears sliding his puffy cheeks. When Robbie gets the mahjong tiles ...WOOOo HOooo, watch him go man!!!! Hmmm, wonder if there's mahjong in the casino thats due to open shortly ..... hehehe ... don't think so huh. If so, we might even have to intensify Robbie's training .... Robbie is turning 10 months soon and we have to hurry if Robbie's going to be the Mahjong King .... Wish us luck ...

Love ya Robbie bom pi pi and bertie bert

Buzzz!!!!

I have chance upon a musical talent in the form of Robbie Lim Yi Kai. When you watch the video, see and hear him buzz like a pro. I can see him picking up the trumpet and blow like Dizzy Gillespie or Wynton Marsalis.

I want Robbie to learn to play the piano first, then the trumpet. I speak from experience, as I noticed I'm struggling, musically, because of the lack of keyboard knowledge. I'm currently studying to further my musical endeavours, and I'm learning new things as I fumble my way through this course. Similarly, Robbie is learning new experiences, trying new things, learning new skills. In a way, I have a lot to learn from him.... Him, learning to stand and sit, learning now to speak(baby garbble) etc. He will keep trying and trying till he gets it right. Now, that's determination. That's my boy! And daddy has a lot to learn from you...

Superman!

It's been sometime since I wrote on this blog... and from the last time until now, Robbie has really been fabulous. He's starting to use his cries to get what he wants, and we all always give in to him... How not to... when he gives you that sad look on his face, with his pouty lips, and his moaning cries, all just hynotizes you. everyone just falls into his spell and rushes to pick him up or start cajoling him, with Oooos and aulalala.
Anyway, Robbie's 2 bottom teeth has emerged and he's able to stand and sit without much help. I must admit sometimes when you look at him trying to stand and sit on his own, it's very nerve wrecking. There were times when he lost balance, hit his head and started crying.... Heart pain!! But I guess he has got to fall a few times in order to learn. When he's playing, I realize that he's a very destructive fellow. When I pack up his toy in the box, he will without fail, always upturn the box and empty the contents. What's worse is when we put him on the majong table... he will sweep the tiles violently, while all of us watch in amazement.
I love my Baby Robbie and wifey wife Yvette.

Robbie getting a haircut for Chinese New Year
Can't believe its February 2009 already ... my Robbie Baby is turning 8 months soon ... This only hit me when I was purchasing some baby food at NTUC a couple of hours ago. I was checking out the baby food that is for babies 3-6 months and I suddenly realised, I should be buying baby food that is more suitable for babies above 6 months. WOW ... its too fast. I better catch up fast. Otherwise Robbie will be 5 and still saying "da da da".

Looking through the recent pictures taken of my little bulldozer, I caught sight of the above pics and truly understand why many friends have commented that Robbie looks really cheeky and mischievous. Hopefully Robbie would not give me too much of a hard time .. Alas, what comes around goes around .... I gave my mom a hard time so ..... Robbie. MERCY ppplleaseeeee!!!!
I lourvvvveee you RobBie BabY ....
Bertie Bert, although you are unable to lift your butt off the chair in front of the mahjong table, I still love you ... a little .... fading fasssstttttt

Poo Poo

Well, as the title say, this post is all about poo poo. For update purposes, since it has been some time since the last post ..... Robbie has had his 1st Christmas, 1st New Year and currently, 1st Chinese New Year. He even got his 1st solid shit. A gold ingot (See above) hehehe Now, as Robbie is no longer on breastmilk, his shit is rather hard and he actually has to exert some force to get his shit out. Check out the video and you will know what I mean. Robbie said his first word yesterday. Di di to be exact. Well, the care of Robbie falls mostly on "Di Di" Its no wonder that's Robbie's first word. I run a mile when I see Robbie huffing and puffing as he tries to bring his gold ingots into the world. And the smell .... OOOooooo .... I shall leave it to your imagination.
I love you Bertie Bert.
Robbie Baby, Mummy loves you too. Its just that when it comes to poo, Mummy prefers to love you from a distance ...............
